Full Title: EuroAcademy on Ventilation and Indoor Climate
Short Title: CLIMACADEMY
Duration of the Project: 48 months
Contractor Implemented the Project: Technical University of Sofia, Center for Research and Design in Human Comfort, Energy and Environment (CERDECEN), Bulgaria

Project Overview

The series of 7 training courses of the EuroAcademy on Ventilation and Indoor Climate (CLIMACADEMY) are further development of the program of two projects: Annual International Course “Ventilation and Indoor Climate” (2002-2004) and Annual International Course “Computational Engineering” (2004-2005), organized within the Stability Pact for South-Eastern Europe and financially supported by Germany. A background of the academy is also the long-term collaboration between several European universities, recently expressed in the EC project “Center for Research and Design in Human Comfort, Energy and Environment – CERDECEN” within the EC Program “Centers of Excellence” and coordinated by CERDECEN, Technical University of Sofia.

The lecturer consortium at the moment of running the project includes leading professors and senior researchers from 18 institutions from 8 MS, 2 ASS and 3 Other states; 7 of them from the core group of universities, participating in the above mentioned projects. CLIMACADEMY-courses face different scientific, technological and socio-economic aspects of a multidisciplinary domain. 7 training courses will be organized in Bulgaria by CERDECEN:
  • IAQ and Thermal Comfort
    (19.10.2006 - 27.10.2006)
  • Individually Controlled Environment
    (08.05.2007 - 13.05.2007)
  • Industrial Ventilation
    (18.10.2007 - 26.10.2007)
  • Integrated Analysis of Building Envelope and Indoor Environment
    (06.05.2008 - 11.05.2008)
  • CFD Based Design of Indoor Environment
    (16.10.2008 - 24.10.2008)
  • IAQ and Human Body Exposure
    (12.05.2009 - 17.05.2009)
  • Experimental Assessment of Indoor Environment Parameters
    (08.10.2009 - 16.10.2009)
Each course includes educational part (lectures) and open seminar sessions (OSS). Within the lecture sessions the early stage researchers will gain cross-European overview on the course’s topics. OSS will enable the participants to present concepts, results or chapters of their PhD theses and to have discussions with their more experienced colleagues. This will improve and speed-up the research activities of the young scientists and will be essential background for reaching higher quality in their studies.
